Boundary Realignment May Message

Minot Public School District #1 is again seeking input on boundary realignment changes proposed by the committee.

The major changes proposed by the committee are:

Perkett Attendance Area: All students East of the bypass will attend Jim Hill Middle School and Magic City for high school.  Areas West of the bypass will attend middle school at Erik Ramstad Middle School, and high school at the new campus.

Roosevelt/McKinley: Students will attend middle school at Central Middle School (as previously suggested) but will attend high school at the new campus.

Please take a few minutes to review the proposed maps on the Boundary Realignment page.  Feedback entered in the Boundary Realignment Input on the proposed changes will be accepted until Thursday, May 19 at 3:00PM.

BOUNDARY REALIGNMENT SURVEY

Greetings,

Minot Public Schools is continuing our elementary attendance boundary process that was halted in 2020 due to COVID-19.   This process will examine the current attendance areas for opportunities for realignment in our elementary and secondary schools. This survey is a starting point to receive public feedback to help inform the Board of Education designated committee process.

This will not be the only opportunity the public will have to provide feedback to the school district. There will be additional opportunities for public input at the scheduled in-person meetings on February 21st and 22nd. More details on time and location will be shared in the coming weeks for these meetings.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey before Noon on February 9, 2022.

Public Input Invite

Greetings,

Minot Public Schools is in the process of re-evaluating elementary school attendance areas to alleviate overcrowding and to ensure we utilize our schools in an efficient manner.  This is especially important as we begin the transition to a 3rd in-town middle school and a two high school system.

The Boundary Committee work began in early 2020, but was delayed due to COVID.  The committee has now resumed this critical work.

The MPS Boundary Committee will be hosting two informational sessions to seek patron input on elementary attendance areas, middle school realignment and future high school attendance areas.

Both meetings will be held at the Cognizant Building (2000 21st Ave. NW – Door 6 on the west side of the building) at the following times:

Monday, February 21, 2022 – 6:00 PM

Tuesday, February 22, 2022 – 6:00 PM

Proposed maps will be available on our district realignment website on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.  These maps provide a starting point for discussion and public input. Later this week, an address locator will be added to our website, which will allow you to enter your address to see what attendance area you live in.

We plan on finalizing our comprehensive attendance area plan by May 5, 2022.

We hope that you can attend one of these meetings. Your input is important to us.

Please reach out if you have any questions.  My office phone is 701-857-4422.

Thank you,

Mark Vollmer, Superintendent
