MPS Email Consolidation

@Minot.k12 and @MYMPS.US Merge

How many emails does one school district need? The best answer is one. Minot Public Schools has started the transition to merge the @minot.k12 and @mymps into one account. Don’t worry, your MPS Technology Department has created some information ahead of the merge date so you can see where the changes will occur. Currently our pilot accounts are going through the full merge to better prepare all district staff. This document along with information posted on our website will provide you with what is about to happen with our accounts.

What you really need to know is, February 1st, 2023 you will never use the firstinitillastname@mymps.us again after the switch. Nothing has been deleted from your google account, but anytime a staff member would have used that login, it will now be firstname.lastname@minot.k12.nd.us. The accounts have been consolidated.

The Account Consolidation Timeline (Staff ONLY)

(@minot.k12.nd.us and @mymps.us merge)

January 10, 2023

Preparing for the merge, an alias in your Google account was created January 10, 2023 for your @minot.k12.nd.us. This allows us to reserve your email address for our Minot Google. When we “flip the switch” to only use Google, the @minot.k12 alias will become the main account name, and @mymps will be an alias.

Note: If you used your @minot.k12.nd.us to create a personal google account, information on the message you received from Google is at the end of this document.

January 17, 2023

We will start migrating email and folders on the Exchange Server (@minot.k12.nd.us) to Minot Google. You will find your minot.k12 email in your Google account under the label minot.k12 along with all your folders in Google. We anticipate that this process will take just over a week to migrate all of Minot Public School staff.

February 1, 2023

You will login to Google for your minot.k12 email. Your Google account username will now be firstname.lastname@minot.k12.nd.us and your existing Google password.

Note: Your login to the computer does not change. What does change is where you login/connect to check email and your Minot Google username.

Discontinue the use of Exchange email account at mail.minot.k12.nd.us. Note that staff will retain access to their old Exchange account on the school network through at least the end of the school year.

All email sent to your @minot.k12.nd.us email will be automatically in your Minot Gmail account. Your @mymps.us email address will now be an alias and will also be received in your Minot Gmail account.

Other account logins will not change.  For example: If you currently log into Clever using your @minot.k12.nd.us email address, you will continue logging in the same way.

Logins using Google sign in such as the SchoolBlocks (website), you will need to use the new Google credentials, @minot.k12.nd.us as the username.

This document will be updated as we continue the pilot.
